2008 Zapcat National Championship kicks off at Stokes Bay

Stokes Bay, Gosport will be host this weekend, 17th & 18th May for Rounds 1 & 2 of the 2008 Zapcat National Championship. This year’s championship will consist of 14 rounds of racing throughout the country from surf locations such as Watergate Bay in Cornwall to the popular holiday town of Bournemouth and heading east for an event in Norfolk. With up to 40 teams expected to take part throughout the year and 10 of which are rookies this years racing is due to be exciting.

Racing at the Stokes Bay Grand Prix will be taking place to the East of Stokes Bay Sailing Club, off Stokes Bay Road. The postcode for the sailing club and public car parks is PO12 2BL. Racers will be arriving from 8am to prepare their engine and boats for the battle to get to the top of the championship board. Drivers briefing will then take place at 10.30am before practise starting at 11am, during practise the fleet will be split into their divisions, and they can make sure that their Zapcat is working in tip top condition for the days racing.

The first race of the 2008 Zapcat National Championship will take place at 12pm and racing will run continuously through until approx 5pm will the finale being the division 1 final. After the all the boats have finished for the day all the teams will be present for prize giving to congratulate the winners on the day’s racings.
