It is time to kick off the 2011 Zapcat Championships in style .... extreme surf! Last year saw Zapcat Racing visit Fistral Beach twice, in April and October and both events delivered with nail biting finishes as well as thrills and spills that only Zapcats can magic up, entertaining everyone on the beach and worldwide online.
National Champions Craig Davis & Rob Martin also managed to grab the King of the Surf title in a countback from Somerset based Delta Jets.
Father & Son team Greg & Kieron Richardson (Team Suffolk) winners of the last Fistral Grand Prix will be out to prove that their first win was no fluke and come the end of the season they will also be in the running again. Having raced in almost every season over the last decade it is their knowledge and consistency that will be hard to beat.
The race organisers have added another twist to the 2011 season with the introduction of two National Championships, dividing the fleet according to the crew combined weight, so the Zapcats will be even more closely matched which will no doubt prove a very popular move in time.
Huge thanks must go to the team at the International Surf Centre at Fistral as it is their support that will allow Zapcat Racing to return not once but twice this season as well as in 2012 and 2013!
