Welsh Wizards heading for a Hat Trick?
Charles and Ed Morris (Westgate Buildings) over the last two years have been inspired by racing on home waters producing their best results of the seasons at Barry, can they win their class again or go one better and take the Grand Prix title? Or will Bluesheets I, current National and Surf Champions and Celtic Cup holders retain their Barry GP crown?
Zapcat Racing returns to Whitmore Bay, Barry Island for the third year in a row, an event that has already seen the largest entry from competitors, thrilling action and drama along with the odd scary moment and increasing support for this very popular event and free visitor attraction.
With some good weather in August and further promotion the beautiful sands are sure to be packed once again. It is thanks to the Vale of Glamorgan Council and their events team that have supported the racing, turning Barry into the undisputed Home of Zapcat Racing in Wales. Especially this year as it will be the only visit for the series in Wales with two rounds of the Celtic Cup.
With the new structure to the Championships of two new weight crew categories the event is set for even closer racing and the teams in their respective classes will be battling it out over Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th August thrilling spectators at this free to view family beach event.
Whitmore Bay with its large promenade and banked gardens offers so many vantage points for the watching public even when the tide is at its lowest.
We can safely say that all the officials, safety crew, race teams, families, series fans and supporters are looking forward to returning to the fantastic beach and the very warm welcome from local residents and visitors alike.

2010 in brief
Bluesheets Racing I once again came out on top as rounds nine and ten of the Zapcat National Championship were contested at Barry Island over the weekend.
Having taken the win in round nine on Saturday, the crew of Bluesheets were set to lose out to Gloucestershire-based BladeRun the following day, only to be denied the chance 50 metres from the chequered flag when Delta Jets flipped over.
The race restarted with Bluesheets taking full advantage to record yet another Grand Prix victory.
There was good news for local fans as Westgate Buildings came out on top of the second division with two podium finishes, including a win in round ten.
Event director Martin Jupp says: "We've had another fantastic weekend in Barry and our thanks go to the Vale of Glamorgan Council once again for all their support in making our Barry Island Grand Prix the stand out meeting it's become."
