Rookie Championship one to watch

You’ve all got a couple of events under your belt and if the cobwebs weren’t blown away before Watergate they should be now!

We’ve had 72 heats in total and there’s been 63 DQ’s not a great statistic! There’s only one boat that has completed all of their 24 races that hasn’t been disqualified let’s try not to increase the number at Bournemouth it costs you guys points and positions!

A tip guys; the big yellow buoys you have to go round them and not over them or you get dq’d, also your boat should remain the right way up with both members of your team in the boat.

So the top of the table’s really tight but it looks like the Rookie Championships going to be even closer this year. Although none of them really seem committed to the cause yet!

There’s only 3 points separating All the Gear, No idea Zapcat 05, and Certain Death Zapcat 21 from each other. Whilst Certain Death’s Luke and Kevin were drinking beer on Saturday in a field at the IOW festival, Simon and Lawrence in All the Gear were injuring themselves causing them to pull out of Sunday’s racing. So you’d think with Lawrence injured Certain Death; may have capitalised on this and gone for major points on Sunday to take the Rookie Leader bibs, No Instead they retired during their first heat and opted to look pretty on the beach for the rest of the day.

All credit to Rookie racers Shore Thing, Zapcat 96, who opted to make Watergate bay their first ever Zapcat Race, Chris and Darren actually started both days at Watergate unfortunately they didn’t finish both days up right and  it’s cost them a new gear box but they’re now famous for their starring role in the Zapcat Rescue Ski footage. 10 out of 10 for effort guys, and we’ll see what your made of at Bournemouth in flatter conditions.

Mail Agent, Zapcat 100 couldn’t make the first rounds of the King of the Surf so we’ll have to see how they perform in the surf later in the year.

The Rookie championship is still wide open and there’s along way to go to the end of the season but I think it will be a tightly fought battle. Just how will the Rookies fair in the next rounds at Bournemouth time will tell ,especially as Officials maybe introducing a few interesting twists n turns to liven up the days Racing; As an infamous person once said to me  “Its an extreme sport lets make it extreme !”

Provisional Dates for 2010
31 October 2009 (2531 reads)

Ok everyone here goes.... remember this is provisional and as each venue / date is confirmed we will let you know.  As promised there will be a minimum of eight Championship Grand Prix Events, we are however working to provide two extra GP Events as part of the Championship, more news to follow on this soon.

Hopefully this will give everyone a good idea of the planned dates for next year, realistically there shouldnt be too many changes to this calender but please do not start booking time off / holidays or start making any travel / accommodation arrangements just yet, as dates and venues may be subject to change until confirmed.
